What is PageSets?
The problem it solves — and how it works
Every morning, do you find yourself opening the same 5–10 tabs in Chrome — email, calendar, Slack, your project board? PageSets fixes that.
The Core Idea
You create a simple text file listing your URLs. PageSets reads that file and opens all your tabs — already organized into named, color-coded groups — in a new Chrome window. One click. Every time.
Your data stays on your device
PageSets stores everything locally — no accounts, no cloud sync, no tracking. The only external connection ever made is a one-time license check when activating Pro.
Free + Pro
The free version handles everyday use — up to 10 tabs, 3 recent PageSets, JSON saving. Pro unlocks the full feature set: 50-tab workspaces, Plain Text saving, Quick Search, keyboard shortcuts, and more.
Installation
Get PageSets running in Chrome in under 2 minutes
Visit the Chrome Web Store
Open Chrome and search for PageSets in the Chrome Web Store, or go directly to pagesets.co
Click "Add to Chrome"
When Chrome asks to confirm, click Add extension. PageSets will install in seconds.
Pin PageSets to your toolbar
Click the 🧩 puzzle-piece icon in Chrome's top-right corner → find PageSets in the list → click the 📌 pin icon. This keeps the PageSets button always visible.
Open PageSets for the first time
Click the PageSets icon in your toolbar. Your library will be empty — that's normal. You're ready to create your first PageSet!
Your First PageSet
Create a simple .txt file and import it
The easiest way to create a PageSet is with a plain text
.txt
file. Open any text editor (Notepad on Windows, TextEdit on Mac) and
follow this format:
Add directives at the top (optional but recommended)
Lines starting with
@ configure your
PageSet. @name sets
the tab group name;
@color sets the
color.
Add your URLs — one per line
Optionally add a display label after a pipe character:
https://example.com | My Label
Lines starting with # are comments and are ignored. Blank lines are also ignored.
Save the file with a .txt extension
Name it something descriptive like
Morning Workflow.txt
and save it somewhere you'll remember.
Import it into PageSets
Open the PageSets → click the file drop area (or drag and drop your file onto it). PageSets will parse it and create a library card. Click Launch or double-click the card to open your workspace!
Launching PageSets
All the ways to open your workspaces
Once you've imported a PageSet, there are several ways to launch it. The double-click is the primary, everyday method.
| Method | How | Tier |
|---|---|---|
| Double-Click Card ⭐ | Double-click anywhere on a library card | ✓ Free |
| Launch Button | Import a file → click Launch | ✓ Free |
| Right-Click Menu | Right-click any page → Start PageSets | ✓ Free |
| Keyboard Shortcut | Cmd/Ctrl+Shift+L — opens PageSets | ✓ Free |
| Quick Launch 1/2/3 | Cmd/Ctrl+Shift+1,2,3 — instant launch | ✦ Pro |
| Quick Search | Cmd/Ctrl+K → type a name → Enter | ✦ Pro |
Updating a PageSet after editing the file
Edit your .txt file and save it
Use any text editor. Add, remove, or change URLs and directives.
Click ↺ Reload on the card
PageSets re-reads your source file. The first time, it may ask you to select the file. After that, reloads are silent.
Double-click the card to launch
Reload does not auto-launch — it just updates the saved PageSet. Double-click to open it.
Managing Your Library
Organize, reload, favorite, and clean up your PageSets
Your library shows your most recently used PageSets — up to 3 in the free version, up to 50 with Pro. Each card gives you quick actions.
| Control | What it does |
|---|---|
| Double-Click | Opens the PageSet in a new Chrome window |
| ↺ Reload | Re-reads the source file and updates the saved PageSet (does not launch) |
| 🗑 Trash | Removes from your library. Does not delete your source file. |
| ✕ Close PRO | Closes the PageSet's active Chrome window |
| ★ Star PRO | Pins the PageSet to the top of your library. Persists across Chrome restarts. |
